Council Initiative Designed to Honor Youth Achievements Print E-mail

Brentwood is dedicated to fostering the development of its future leaders. The Borough affirms that, in spite of the media presentation of our younger generations as entitled and apathetic, a large number of local youths are volunteering their time for the betterment of the community. In order to ensure that these contributions do not go unnoticed, Council established the Youth Exceptional Service (YES) Award. Through this program, residents between the ages of 5 and 18 will be formally recognized for selflessly providing service to others. Brentwood is proud of its long-standing reputation as a welcoming and neighborly community; this initiative will celebrate the work of our younger cohorts to keeping this legacy intact.

Do you know a student who is deserving of this prestigious honor? Please complete and return the attached application to Borough Manager George Zboyovsky via email at gzboyovsky @ brentwoodboro.com. Prior to making application, review the eligibility guidelines and selection criteria here. All submissions must be received by December 15, 2016.

Borough Formally Joins Popular Initiative to Honor Members of the Military Print E-mail

Brentwood Borough residents have honorably served our nation in every military conflict since World War I. Our municipality affirms the importance of remembering the contributions of our men and women in uniform to preserving the American way of life. In order to pay public tribute to members of our armed forces, the Borough has chosen to contract with a vendor to print commemorative banners. By enrolling in this program, residents can celebrate the career of any active duty, retired, or deceased servicemen. Brentwood will prominently display a photograph of the local hero, along with information pertaining to his or her rank, unit, and service awards on a 24” by 36” banner. Additionally, each applicant will receive a 12” by 18” banner for personal display. The cost to enroll is $80. Please submit the attached document, along with a high quality photo, to the Borough offices no later than February 15, 2017.

Sanitary Authority to Hold Open House Event Print E-mail

Over the past decade, local municipalities have become much more cognizant of their sewage infrastructure and the adverse impacts that can occur when groundwater infiltrates this system. ALCOSAN, which processes waste water on behalf of Brentwood, is offering residents an opportunity to learn about what happens after they flush the toilet or drain the tub. The annual open house event will be held at their facility on September 17th from 9AM to 4PM. Visitors will have an opportunity to tour the treatment plant, partake in hand-on environmental exhibits, and learn about local ecology. Lunch will be provided. Free parking is available, and a no-cost shuttle will serve transit riders at the North Side T station.
