Town Hall Event Takes Hollistic Approach to Opiate Education

American communities are presently facing their most serious drug epidemic in over 25 years. Neighborhoods of all sizes, ethnic compositions, and socioeconomic levels have been afflicted by an exponential growth in the abuse heroin and prescription opiate painkillers. The Brentwood Police Department recognizes the importance of engaging the community in a dialogue about this urgent crime and public health matter. On August 22nd, the department will host a town hall meeting to provide a frank and informative discussion on both the prevention and the treatment of opiate abuse. Representatives of both the medical and law enforcement fields will be on hand to lead lectures and interactive workshops. The event will take place from 6PM to 9PM at the Brentwood Middle-High School Auditorium. For more information, please view the flyer here.

Popular Vendors to Appear at Food Truck Event

Residents are invited to savor the flavors of several local restaurateurs at the Brentwood-Baldwin-White Hall Chamber of Commerce Summer Food Truck Festival.  Enjoy slow-cooked Southern classics from South Side BBQ, Cajun creations from Pittsburgh Po'Boy, specialty slices from Fire Truck Pizza, frozen treats from Sugar 'n Spice, and homemade baked goods from Beatnik Sweets. The event takes place on Thursday, August 24th in the central parking lot of Baldwin High School. These mobile kitchens will be serving their specialties from 5PM to 7PM.

Community Yard Sale Unites Neighbors Over Bargains

A classic idiom states that one man’s trash can be another man’s treasure. Nowhere does this expression hold more true than at yard sales, where a diverse selection of new and used goods are made available at discounted prices. The Brentwood Centennial Committee will hold its annual community-wide yard sale event from 8AM to 3PM on August 5th. The public is invited to peruse an assortment of goods, from the conventional to the unusual. Remember not to limit your patronage to the main drags, as a number of residents of our less travelled thoroughfares are scheduled to participate! Vendors will also be located in the Brentwood Library lawn.
