  • Infrastructural Updates: Contracts have been awarded for Phases I & II of the park enhancement project, and a groundbreaking ceremony for this long awaited development will be held on May 3rd.  The Borough is also soliciting proposals from experienced architectural firms that outline both renovation and reconstruction options for the municipal building.

Zoning Ordinance Revisions:  The comprehensive overhaul of the zoning ordinance is nearly complete.  The Planning Commission provided a list of suggestions to our outside consultant during the April meeting.  It is anticipated that Council will vote on a finalized draft before the conclusion of the summer season.

Rental Property Ordinance:  Landlords who have failed to apply for a rental license are currently being prosecuted at the magistrate.  The first round of rental inspections will commence on May 1st.

Brentwood Pool: The 2013 season begins on May 25th! Passes will be available for sale at the Civic Center from May 21st through 23rd or at the pool entrance during regular operating hours.

With his furry coat of hair and four-legged gait, one member of the Brentwood Police Department might look a bit different than his peers, but he works just as tirelessly to uphold the law. Our current police dog, Duke, continues a several decade long legacy of diligent service by these loyal, intelligent creatures. Although police canines can be instructed to attack a perpetrator who is attempting to physically harm an officer, such dogs are rarely called on to act in an attack capacity. The primary function of a police service animal is to use his powerful sense of smell to detect illicit drugs and to locate trapped victims at the scene of a severe disaster. Although Duke is generally a docile animal, when called to duty, he takes his job just as seriously as a human officer!
