Major Glitches in Sewage Billing Process Rectified Print E-mail

 

In January 2015, Brentwood debuted its all-new sewage usage fee collection system.  The Borough partnered with local vendor Software Systems to provide a program to track and manage user accounts, while concurrently contracting with PNC Bank to generate monthly bills and collect payments. As is often the case when an organization institutes a major procedural change, the transition to the new system has been imperfect, and several "bugs" have been noted and corrected.  During the July billing cycle, a large number of customers received a message on their monthly statements informing them of pending service termination. This message was delivered in error.  No customers were scheduled for termination in July, and, by ordinance, service will never be terminated to a customer who is less than three months delinquent or has adhered to the terms of a valid payment agreement.

 

Additionally, the July statement listed an inaccurate phone number for our customer service representative. Residents should dial 412-884-1500 x118 regarding any billing or payment questions. The Borough issues a heartfelt apology to any resident who received a bill containing the incorrect message and issued a copy of the attached retraction notice to clarify the error. Borough staff has already been formally meeting with our vendors both to ensure that these glitches are entirely corrected and to devises ways to improve the user friendliness of our system.
